| | | The Backcountry Pursuit was conceived after the realization that nothing this awesome existed in Boise, ID. There was a big, wide, gaping hole in the outdoor gear industry here. Where was somebody on a budget to get high quality used gear in Boise? What were the outlets to sell the gear that is clogging your closets and garages? Before us, there was Craigslist and the swaps. That's it. The Backcountry Pursuit was formed to fill that big, wide, gaping hole. We are Boise's premier place to get those affordable goods you need and crave. We also make it incredibly easy and painless to sell the gear you don't use, need, or have outgrown. A local company started on shoestring, to serve the active population of Boise.
We deal in only the highest quality gear and top name brands. Yes, the things we sell are used. But, who says used gear is used up? We know the stuff you bring us to consign has many miles of fun left to give.
Get motivated to spend an evening reminiscing about past trips taken while you dig through the boxes and shelves pulling out all that gear you have memories with. That poor gear has just been sitting around feeling bad about itself. You didn't mean to neglect it. It just happened. Maybe it wasn't even that you neglected it. Maybe you did use it and just want something newer and shinier. Either way and whatever the case may be, get that stuff consigned with us! Let us find a new owner to take that gear on an adventure.
When you come down to drop off all that fantastic gear, you'll want to check out all the great stuff other people have dropped off. It is always an adventure here at the Backcountry Pursuit. You never quite know what you'll find. The inventory is always changing. If you see something you like, be sure to snatch it up. Cause tomorrow, it'll be gone. See you soon! |

| | | Owner | | My name is Tyson. To put it simply, I'm a "gear whore". I have always loved the outdoors and have been fascinated by the technology that goes into the gear that allows us to do the sports that we love.
When I was 18, I moved from Wisconsin to Breckenridge, Colorado to live the snowboard bum life. I spent five years there and rode over 600 days. I might have had a beer or two in that time as well. There, I also reconnected with Alpine skiing and learned to telemark ski. I rode the mountains in the winter and climbed them in the summer. I spent many days in the backcountry.
Once I had enough of that life, I decided to try my hand at a real career and it went well for a number of years. But, I lost interest and wanted to feel passionate about what I did for a living again.
So, here we are. I opened this store on November 3rd, 2012 after a number of months of hard work. Many people helped and we built something very cool. I hope you think its cool too.
| | Meet Tom. The Backcountry Pursuit's first employee. He's in on the ground floor and we couldn't ask for a better person. Friendly, kind, and full of knowledge about outdoor gear and local information about Idaho. I swear, Tom has hiked every drainage and ridge within a 150 mile radius of Boise. He's been doing this stuff for years and we truly are lucky to have an expert of this caliber on our staff. | | Kris came onto the staff a few weeks before the grand opening. Let's call it first floor. Kris has extensive experience in the retail gear world. He managed one of the very successful local outdoor gear shops in Boise for a number of years. After a number of years doing other things, he's back! With less responsibility this time. And that's just the way he wants it. His job is helping you and not running the store. This guy knows what he's talking about when it comes to gear and is another great addition to the other two yahoos that work here. | |
